Papajon, native of Wichita, Kansas, produced his first album in 1984, "Reason For Living," a gentle Christian Gospel collection. It was expanded in 2002 with orchestral tracks, but is currently "out of print."
"...a very close shave" began in 2004 and has come to fruition in December 2005. The major philisophical influences on his life are, obviously the Bible, but also very important is the book, "Zen Guitar" by Philip Toshio Sudo. The musical influences on his life range from: 1) the rock/psychedelic bands of the late 60's and early 70's; 2) the Native American Northern Drum Traditions; 3) the Classical Guitar composers; & 4) the Metal bands of today... to name a few.
So sit down, get comfortable and enjoy ...a very close shave
In 2004 Papajon had the great fortune to meet fellow composer John Francis, impressario and director of the Wichita Guitar Society. This organization was founded in 1956 by Irma Wassall, who is still active with the society. Richard Johnson, another charter member, and reknown classical guitarist from Kansas City. has also been a great influence and inspiration to Papajon through his involvment with the Wichita Guitar Society,.
